Recycled Tokens

It has been a practice in our church to give tokens on special occasions. These tokens mostly are from recycled materials.
This love month, my sisters and I made a token using empty CD cases. We just bought some materials such as heart stickers, buttons, glitters and strings to used as embellishments and enhancers.

The greeting was placed in the front of the CD cases and the inside was used to create a picture frame and to place the Bible verses. These Bible verses are to encourage the people to whom the tokens are intended for. For the letters, we used old magazines cut outs to complete the letters of the greeting and the Bible verses. We worked for a week to finish the personalized tokens to be given to the couples in our church.

Why recycled? First is to cut down costs but still creating simple and yet beautiful tokens. Second, recycling is our way to help the environment. We all know that since the onset of plastic it has become one of the major problems that we are battling worldwide. Third, this is also to provide an example to our younger brothers and sisters that there's beauty in recycling and reusing materials such as plastics, old magazines or newspapers and other non-biodegradable. It can also be a source of extra income if one is dedicated in turning recycling into profitable endeavor.

Below are the tokens we gave this Sunday, February 13. And the sample of the Bible Verses that were used in the tokens. My youngest sister and I made the designs and my sister who is next to me in line looked for the letterings to be used.
