Kulay-FUL JEEPNEYS

One of the distinct and unique things one could see in the Philippines is the very colorful public utility vehicles called “jeepneys”. These PUVs convey 20 people maximum capacity, from one place to another; usually with specific route that is only within the boundary of the franchise applied for with the municipal or local government. These examples are Baguio-Trancoville, Baguio-La Trinidad, Baguio-Aurora Hill and among others. In some places, these jeepneys are color coded. Like for an instance in Angeles, Pampanga, where green jeepneys are only bound on Marisol-C-point Highway route.
However, most places like Baguio and Benguet, are where you could see very kulay*-ful jeepneys. There are those that depicted anime characters like the dragon balls, or Disney princesses like Snow White, Cinderella, Bell in Beauty and the Beast, and Aurora in Sleeping Beauty or Jasmin in Aladdin. Most of them painted and designed their jeepneys with scenery of nature ranging from waterfalls to mountains to fairies. Truly, Filipinos are very artistic and the jeepneys depict our true nature. Jeepneys have two bench-like seats facing each other and another seat beside the driver of which one or two individuals can sit. When inside the jeep, music is always present whether it be from a popular FM Radio Station or country music or christian music.
Riding a jeepney is my everyday mode of transportation. But I never get tired riding in it because I have the chance to meet a lot of people: my friends, a distant relative, a former classmate or a co-worker. In here, I also hear a lot of stories, gossips, debates on current issues, and almost anything that two or more person can talk about. There are times that by the time that I reached our house, two civilian's lives are already known to the passengers like what year her daughter had graduated, or what happen to the car that the other owned last year and among others. Sometimes I can't help but listen to their stories.
What really catch my attention are the signages that are attached at the back or front of the jeepney. Some of them are witty. Some of them are inspiring. Some are typical. Some are funny that make you glance twice to read again and be sure that you read it right. I’ve captured some of the signages that have caught my attention.
